A museum going digital
Platinum 3D Consultants performed a 3D survey and Revit modelled various locations within the Natural History Museum estate.
The model is part of a wider Museum strategy to prioritise and make an impact in digital technology and innovative platforms, where BIM has been identified as an effective information management tool.
Down to the last socket
Some of the LOD4 models included piping, ducting, lighting, switches and sockets, a requirement that was particularly complex within the laboratories and plant rooms.
Permanent control established during an earlier project at the Museum meant every model is geo-referenced into the same co-ordinate system, and can be linked into a single master project.
A base for collaborative design
The architectural 'BIM ready' models provide a base model to aid collaborative design and management of the Museum, ready for every project that follows.
